Mission Statement Performing Arts in Contexts (PAC)


PAC aims to form an international network of teachers, researchers and artists in the field of higher education and to develop a permanent conference for the performing arts in contexts. The Focus of PAC are the fields of applied theatre, theatre pedagogy, performing arts, theatre in social fields, community theatre, theatre in education, drama teaching and related subjects. The network facilitates dialogue between different working principles, objectives and self-understandings. PAC provides a framework in which interests can be articulated, and working groups can be formed and established.

 

AIMS

 

  • Exchange in terms of study programs, perspectives, practices, structures, discourses, developments etc. on a regular basis.

  • Creating visibility of the field and its programs in politics, academics and societies.

  • Invent dialogue and influence in relevant political settings and represent the positions and aims of PAC in those.

  • Building a structure for international and transcultural activities.

  • Dialogue is principle and method.

  • “Contexts” is to be seen as „contexts beyond arts“.

  • PAC is balancing questions of sustainability, accessibility and continuity.

  • Being international means focusing on the specific practices in certain cultures and creating common discourses and developments.

  • PAC is multilingual: we consider the issue of “not understanding” as a chance and a value.

  • PAC is aware of asymmetries regarding financial resources and working conditions amongst the members and considers them.
